Privacy Policy

PLAYRIOT LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the NutriLish mobile application (the “App”). This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. About NutriLish

NutriLish is an AI calorie counter and macro tracker. It identifies food from photos, scans barcodes, and visualizes your daily, weekly, and monthly nutrition trends.

2. Information We Collect

Authentication. NutriLish uses Sign in with Apple. We receive a stable opaque user ID and, if you share it, your email or Apple’s private relay address.

Profile data. Sex, age, height, weight, activity level, goal (cut / maintain / bulk / GLP-1 / keto / vegan), target macros. Used to calculate your daily calorie and macro targets.

Food log. Every meal you log — whether by photo, barcode, or manual entry — with its calories, macros, food items, date, and meal slot. Stored on our server so your log syncs across devices.

Meal photos. When you scan a meal, the image is sent over an encrypted connection to PLAYRIOT’s AI service for food recognition and nutrition estimates. If you save a meal with a photo, that photo is kept on your device and uploaded to PLAYRIOT’s storage service for your account’s meal history and sync. We save the detected food items, portions, and nutrition values with the meal.

Body metrics. Weight and (optionally) body measurements you log over time. Used for trend analytics and to update your calorie target as your weight changes.

Subscription state. Whether you have an active Pro entitlement, derived from Apple’s StoreKit. Apple handles the actual payment.

Feedback and support. When you submit a bug report or idea, we receive its text, any screenshot you attach, your device identifier, app and operating-system versions, device model, and current subscription tier. Bug reports can include a diagnostic log excerpt. If you provide an email address, we use it to respond about your submission. After you submit feedback or a correction, the app checks for related updates using its device identifier.

3. What We Don’t Collect

• We don’t track you across other apps or websites.
• We don’t use third-party analytics SDKs (no Firebase, no Mixpanel, no Amplitude).
• We don’t share or sell your nutrition data with health insurers, GLP-1 manufacturers, supplement companies, advertisers, or wellness data brokers.
• We don’t access your contacts, calendar, or microphone. NutriLish accesses Apple Health only with your permission: it can read weight and activity data for calorie targets and trends, and write logged-meal nutrition to Apple Health. You control these permissions in the iOS Health permission sheet.

4. How We Use Your Information

• Identify food in your photos and estimate macros.
• Look up barcoded products against verified nutrition databases (USDA, FatSecret, Open Food Facts).
• Calculate and update your daily calorie and macro targets based on your goal and body weight trend.
• Sync your food log and body metrics across your devices.
• Render trend charts (daily, weekly, monthly).
• Verify your Pro subscription status with Apple’s StoreKit.

5. Third-Party Services

Sign in with Apple. Authentication is handled entirely by Apple.

AI inference providers. Our AI service uses Google Gemini to identify foods in meal photos. It sends the detected food names and estimated portions to OpenAI to refine nutrition estimates. Google receives the meal image; this refinement step sends OpenAI structured food information rather than the image itself.

Nutrition databases. USDA FoodData Central, FatSecret Platform, and Open Food Facts are queried for verified nutrition information when you log foods. Queries are anonymized.

Cloud infrastructure. Our application server and database are hosted in Germany (Frankfurt) on IONOS.

Apple StoreKit. Subscription purchases are processed entirely by Apple.

6. Device Permissions

• Camera — only when you tap the photo-log or barcode-scan button.
• Photos — only if you choose to import an existing photo of a meal.
• Notifications — only if you enable daily logging nudges.

All permissions revocable in iOS Settings. NutriLish requests no location, contacts, microphone, calendar, or health data without explicit opt-in.

7. Data Storage and Deletion

Your saved meal history, attached photos, and profile are stored on your device and synced to your account using PLAYRIOT’s application server and storage service. You can delete meals or request account deletion from Settings in the app.

8. Data Sharing

We do not sell or rent your data. We do not share your nutrition data, body metrics, fasting patterns, or photo identification history with advertisers, insurers, pharmaceutical companies, GLP-1 manufacturers, wellness data brokers, or any third party not listed in Section 5.

9. GLP-1 and Medical Context

NutriLish supports GLP-1 weight-loss medication users, post-bariatric patients, and other special-diet contexts as tracking and reference tools only. We do not share your tracking patterns with your prescribing physician, your insurer, or the medication manufacturer. NutriLish is not HIPAA-covered software because we are not a covered entity; treat the App as a self-tracking tool, not a clinical-grade record.

10. Children’s Privacy

NutriLish is intended for adult users. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. The App is not directed at children.

11. EEA, UK, and Switzerland

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have additional rights under the GDPR and equivalent laws: access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and the right to object to processing. To make a formal request, email [email protected]. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

12. Changes to This Policy

If this policy materially changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. For changes that affect what data we collect, we will prompt you in-app on next launch.
